Do You Have Style?

Do you want to be the best you can be? Do you want to be self confident, interesting person who has something unique to offer others? Then you need to work on developing your own style.

Style is not fashion. Style is not clothing. Style is how you do everything you do. It is the choices and decisions you make every moment of every day. Style is also in what you decide not to do. It is in what you decide not to say. It is in what you decide not to wear, not to buy, not to eat. Your individual, unique style comes from you making deliberate, reflective choices in your life.

It is the decision to forego that fast food dinner and instead pick up a loaf of fresh baked bread, some freshly made ravioli and whip up a homemade tomato sauce. It is the decision to set a place at the table and eat thoughtfully, savoring the flavors and each bite instead of wolfing fast food down in front of the TV. It is the decision to turn in early because you have an important morning appointment, even though all your friends are going out late and pressuring you to attend.

It is doing what is best for you and your life. Having style is taking care of yourself, physically, mentally and emotionally. It means keeping fit by eating right and moving your body. It also means discarding habits and people who are negative influences in your life. It means ironing your clothes and polishing your shoes. It means not doing things that don't feel right for you.

Having style could be how you knot your scarf. It could be how you throw on a blazer over a tight white t-shirt and jeans. But it really is all about how you live your life. Do you needlessly spend your money on junk? Junk food. Items that you don't love or need that fill up your space and take your energy. Having style means choosing quality over quantity. It means only buying what you love and/or need. It means holding out if you don't find exactly what you want and not compromising. Having style means living in the moment. It means instead of rushing off to the next adventure, savoring what you are doing right then and there and appreciating the small pleasures in life: a good cup of coffee, a sunny day, poring over a magazine or indulging in a good book or a game of pool with friends at the corner bar.

Style means thinking about every move you make and determining whether it suits you. Do you really want to tag along to the strip club tonight or would you rather go shoot some hoops? Do you want to meet a group of guys at the beach or do you feel like staying in and watching football all day?

Having style means having enough self confidence to make sure every decision you make is done thoughtfully and is best for you and your journey to become the best, most fulfilled person you can be.
